How to Purchase Your Squarespace Subscription (So Your Site Stays Live)

Hey hey đź‘‹

Now that your brand-new Squarespace website is complete (woohoo 🎉), there’s just one last thing to take care of before it can go fully live — purchasing your subscription.

Until this step is completed, your site will stay in “trial mode” and won’t be publicly accessible. But don’t worry — it only takes a few minutes!

Here’s exactly how to upgrade to a paid Squarespace plan so your website stays live and professional from day one.

đź’ł Step-by-Step: How to Purchase Your Squarespace Plan

  1. Log In to Your Site
Go to squarespace.com/login and enter your credentials.

  2. Open Billing Settings
In your website's Home Menu, click:
    Settings → Billing & Account → Billing

  3. Choose a Plan That Fits Your Needs
You’ll see a few plan options:

    • Personal

    • Business

    • Commerce

    âť— Important Note:
Please do not choose the Personal plan without checking with me first. Your site includes custom code (like CSS or JavaScript) and advanced features that require the Business plan to work properly.

    • Business is ideal for most service-based businesses and ensures all custom features I’ve added stay fully functional.

    • Commerce is needed if you're selling products through your website.

  4. Add Your Payment Details
Enter your billing information and payment method. Squarespace accepts major credit/debit cards.

  5. Confirm Your Subscription
Review your selection, click Confirm, and you’re all set! Your site will now be live and fully functional.

đź“ť Pro Tips

  • Annual plans come with a free custom domain for one year.

  • You can upgrade or downgrade later if your business needs shift — just let me know and I can help!

  • If you're launching an online store, the Commerce plans unlock checkout, product pages, and payment integrations.

Alison Strate

Here is a little bit about me. I am a millennial, married, and young mother of three beautiful children. I live in Southern Utah and love the outdoors. I have a B.S. in Horticulture (the study of plants) and a minor in marketing. I like to think that my degree in horticulture really paved the way for me as a designer. I love color and using it to capture an audience.

My journey into the world of web design began back in 2014, when I designed a website for the company I was working for as their marketing manager. I fell in love with Squarespace and since my husband and I were starting a family I realized designing websites was something I could do from home. Ever since then I have been building websites on the Squarespace platform. I have loved how it has evolved and consider myself an expert in Squarespace.

My design approach is a blend of nature's beauty and strategic thinking. It's been an incredible journey from the serene world of plants to the dynamic realm of digital design, and I've found joy in blending these seemingly disparate fields. From cozy local businesses to vast solar farms in the Australian countryside, my portfolio reflects the diversity of projects I've had the pleasure of working on over the years. I believe in crafting websites that not only look good but also feel like a true reflection of the businesses they represent.

If you're in search of a seasoned designer who combines creativity, dedication, and empathy, look no further. I'm here to collaborate with you on your digital projects, ensuring they not only meet but exceed your expectations. Let's work together to create captivating digital experiences that resonate with your audience and achieve your business goals.
